The Prophet

Muhammad, `alayhis salam,
Sat quietly in the evening
His companion asked,
“O beautiful man, why do you sit here, grieving?”
“My ummah, those who follow me,
The future of their faith
Makes me worry ’til I cry.
My brothers and sisters in Islam,
Will they be strong and carry on after I die?”
The Prophet stood silently and prayed
His beard becoming wet as he cried for his fears.
“O Allah, don’t let this nation fade!”
As he pleaded through the night
The earth around him filled with tears.
“My ummah, those who follow me,
The future of their faith
Makes me worry ’til I cry.
My brothers and sisters in Islam,
Will they be strong and carry on after I die?”
A stillness fell over the land
Companions gathered near to where the Prophet lay.
As Ayesha, his wife, held tight to his hand,
The Prophet spoke again before he passed away,
“My ummah, those who follow me,
The future of their faith
Makes me worry ’til I cry.
My brothers and sisters in Islam,
Will they be strong and carry on after I die?”
Believers,Brothers and sisters in Islam,
Will we be strong and carry on
Until we die?

Beautiful Nasheed by Abu Ammar: The Names of Allah (swt)

I was provided with a most delightful suggestion by one of Allahs Beautiful Abids the other day on going through Allahs 99 Names in 99 Days. Jazak Allah Khayr, Insha'Allah I will be look to taking this challenge up and update the blogg on my experience.

May we All benefit from seeking Ilm on the Asma Wa Sifaat of Allah and ultimately get closer to Allah swt through this in All our Ebadat, with the ultimate aim to increase our level of Taqwa. Aamin.

And to Allah belongs the Most Beautiful Names, so call on Him by them. (7:180)

Abu Hurayrah radi Allahu anhu reported that the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said,

Allah has ninty-nine names, one hundred less one. Whoever ‘ahsaaha‘ will enter Jannah. [Bukhari and Muslim]

The most important thing for us to remember is that the hadeeth says “man ahsaahaa”, meaning, according to shaykh Jamaal Zarabozo and shaykh Yasir Qadhi:

whoever enumerates them, believes in them, ponders their meanings, worships Allah by them and supplicates with them, and acts by them according to one’s belief in them. So it’s not just about memorizing the names of Allah ta’ala, we must ‘ahsaaha‘.

Maher Zain - New Nasheed Artist and New Album - "Thank you Allah"

Alhamdullilah.

I am not one to listen to Nasheeds however there are a few that based on the lyrical content have taken me to ponder over. Maher Zain appears to be one of the newcomers on the Nasheed block for 2009.



The many Ayats are around for Us All to see.
"We can't keep hiding away from the truth"

Here is another one of Meher Zain featuring Irfan Makki (so I am told). His New Album is called "Thank You Allah", on the face of it sounds like it would be a hit for the Nasheed in you enthusiasts.

Islam Expo Compilation

Islam Expo 08'

I attended the four day extravaganza of Islam Expo over the weekend! Well went on Saturday and Sunday and it was very fruitful Alhamdullilah.

Events included:

-Nasheeds - Zain Bikha and Outlandish to name but a few
-Arts and Crafts: Caligraphy Workshops - I had a one hour session on this and it was fabulous!
-Calligraphy Gallery - Amina Maliks' artistry was on view here, that sister has some talent, M'A.
- Souk Stories performed by Khayaal Theatre
- Lectures and Seminars - Jonathon Steele, Yvonne Ridley, Geroge Galloway, Tariq Ramadan to name a few
-Qur'an Recitation by Sheikh Mohammed Jebril and Sheikh Ahmaad Saad
-Muslim in Sport - 5 aside football competition

All in all well worth it, bring on the next one I say!
